We've become so accustomed to Ronald Koeman in Premier League dugouts for both Southampton and now Everton it's easy to forget he was a pretty good footballer himself.

The Dutchman enjoyed his most successful spell at Barcelona where he won several La Liga titles as well as the European Cup under the tutelage of Johan Cruyff. Koeman scored 67 goals in his time in Spain and after a brief spell playing for Feyenoord he got into coaching.

He's shown he's a decent manager since being in charge of a number of European big hitters but you could argue his spells in La Liga have been the most valuable.

As he looks to turn Everton back into a force to be reckoned with he'll be calling on all of his years of experience, both playing and coaching, so it'll be unsurprising if a few stars from leagues he's seen first hand make their way to Merseyside.

We at Football FanCast think it's a real possibility some La Liga stars will be on their way soon and here are the FIVE we think the club should target this summer...

Vitolo

Koeman looks to be targeting the wide areas as a point to strengthen at the club - given the signing of Yannick Bolasie.

With time still left before the window shuts that surely won't be the last winger coming in and Vitolo would certainly have a good effect.

The Sevilla man has played mainly on the left side throughout his career despite being right footed and has also played for Spain, indicating his quality.

Gustavo Cabral

Another area the Toffees need to be looking to bolster is at centre-half after the departure of John Stones. Ashley Williams has already joined to help do so and the Argentine Cabral would also bring similar levels of experience.

At 30 years old, he was part of the Celta Vigo side that turned a lot of heads in La Liga last season, meaning any potential deal could prove to be a bargain.

Lucas Perez

Perez joined Deportivo La Coruna permanently last summer and instantly went about finding the net to eventually score 17 goals from 36 appearances.

A record like that would certainly go some way to helping replace Romelu Lukaku if the Belgian leaves this summer.

Victor Ruiz

Victor Ruiz

Victor Ruiz was a mainstay for Villarreal last season making 35 appearances for the club.

He's a no-nonsense centre-half who doesn't net many but certainly knows how to stop others from scoring and with Everton looking for players in his position a move could be on the cards.

He's seen his defensive partner from last season, Eric Bailly, leave and may be tempted to do the same.

Yevhen Konoplyanka

KonoplyankaSevilla

Konoplyanka joined Sevilla at the start of last season and chipped in with four goals from 32 appearances.

The Ukrainian international plays on the other wing to Vitolo for the Spanish club, so if the Toffees bought the pair they'd be getting players that are already on the same page.

Konoplyanka knows how to win things too. He was part of the team that won the Europa League last year.
