It's been a funny season for Everton, finishing 11th is widely regarded as a big underachievement for the Merseyside club, but a new owner, manager and a massive pile of cash could make for an exciting summer at Goodison Park.

The club's new major stakeholder, Farhad Moshiri, has cash to burn and has already shocked many by making Southampton's boss, Ronald Koeman, one of the best paid managers in the Premier League.

The deal for Koeman was finalised and announced on Tuesday, once Koeman has started, Moshiri and his new boss will turn their sights onto transfer targets.

Koeman is someone who is used to rebuilding a squad, so should key players Lukaku, Stones and Barkley look to bigger club's, the squad will be in safe hands.

Big investment at Goodison will break the mould that was set under Bill Kenwright, who was always reluctant to spend big, David Moyes was renowned for doing well on an exceedingly tight budget.

Because of this Everton fans have every reason to look forward to this summer and the season that follows, especially if they splash out on any of these FIVE...

CRISTIAN TELLO

Porto's exciting young winger, who spent last season on loan at Fiorentina, is a graduate of the Barcelona academy, an obvious hallmark of quality and also the academy which produced Everton favourite, Gerard Deulofeu.

Since leaving Barcelona for Italy and Porto in 2014, Tello had a mixed experience, not getting enough football for his liking and moved to Fiorentina in January this year.

It is unlikely therefore that Tello would want to move back to Porto and could be tempted by Premier League football and a new, ambitious owner at the helm of Everton.

KHOUMA BABACAR

Another Fiorentina man who could well replace Romelu Lukaku should he leave Everton over summer, is Senegalese forward, Khouma Babacar.

The 23-year-old has, apart from two loan spells, spent his entire career to date at Fiorentina and scored seven goals in 24 appearances last season.

Like Lukaku, he is a young and hungry striker who would, more than likely, seize any chance to ply his trade in the Premier League with both hands.

JAMES WARD-PROWSE

James Ward-Prowse (Southampton)

Now Koeman has taken the Everton job, this Saints midfielder is likely to be high on Koeman's list of targets.

The Dutchman always favoured the 21-year-old at Saints and the England U21 Captain has bags of potential, with an expert eye for set piece taking. Given the right guidance Ward-Prowse could grow to be an instrumental player for any Premier League side in years to come.

However, Ward-Prowse has previously voiced his desire to one day go and and captain his current side, Southampton but money talks these days, so anything could happen.

A goalkeeper is likely to be a priority for the incoming manager and this title-winning shot stopper will be top of that list.

The son of Man Utd legend, Peter Schmeichel, was integral in Leicester's shock title win last season and has attracted plaudits from countless pundits, journalists and fans alike.

It will take a lot to pull the Dane away from The King Power but as mentioned, Moshiri is ready and willing to throw silly amounts of money at key signings.

LEWIS DUNK

Brentford v Brighton & Hove Albion - FA Cup Third Round

John Stones is high on the list of targets at many clubs and should he leave Everton will need to draft in a replacement. Even if he stays their defence is something that needs looking at immediately.

Koeman could turn his sights to the Championships and Brighton's impressive centre half, Lewis Dunk, who has attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs.

Brighton however, are standing firm in an attempt to keep hold of Dunk, but some offers will be too good to turn around.
