An eagle-eyed fan spotted the Toffees full back and Manchester United transfer target in the crowd (wearing club colours of course) during a fixture at the 1970 World Cup.
Wearing a cowboy hat – which leads you to question what Baines did before he was scouted – the England international left back looks clearly transfixed by the action.
We reckon he was closely studying Brazilian full back and captain Carlos Alberto.
The player went on to captain Brazil to World Cup glory, scoring one of the most famous World Cup goals in the process.
It’s taken a while since that tournament 43 years ago, but Baines is starting to show form that even he would be proud of.
Not have bad for a sixty-something-year-old!
