Despite drawing 2-2 away to Fulham at the weekend, courtesy of a last minute Steven Sidwell goal, Everton currently occupy fourth spot after a strong start to the campaign.
And the Everton defender is pleased with the Toffees’ ability to ‘mix it up’ when they want to and insists they are a hard team to beat on their day.
He told Everton’s official website: “When we are at our best we mix it up. We go long and we play football as well and that is when teams don’t know what to do with us.
“They are not sure whether to come in and get tight or stand off. We’re not over reliant on creative players or passing that can sometimes be a bit one-dimensional. We have got a bit of everything.
“If we can turn these performances in to wins then we could finish quite high up the table.”
However, Baines also admits that David Moyes’ side need to start turning draws in to wins after their fourth consecutive draw in the top-flight.
“At the moment we’re getting draws and that’s not quite where we want to be,” he added.
“If we want to get to the level that we are aiming to be at then we have got to start winning those games. We are creating enough chances to win games, definitely. If we can start to put them away teams won’t be able to get back at us late in games like that.”
