According to the Metro, the Liverpool Echo and Mirror Football, Everton are preparing a swoop for Manchester City misfit James Milner.

The England international – set to represent the Three Lions at the World Cup in Brazil – is famed for his work-rate, experience, quality and professionalism but has struggled at the Etihad since the arrival of Manuel Pellegrini last summer.

Having made just 17 Premier League starts this year, the versatile midfielder is keen for a move away this summer, and resultantly the Goodison outfit are posed to launch a £12million bid – although it’s unlikely a deal will be completed ahead of Brazil 2014.

With Roberto Martinez in need of replacing three talismanic loan signings this summer however, while also continuing to mould the Everton squad in his tica-taca image, it’s unlikely Milner will be the Toffees’ only major acquisition this summer.

With that in mind, here’s a list of SIX signings who could follow the midfield veteran to Merseyside this summer, some inspired by his arrival, others more coincidental.

Tica Taca? You mean passing and possession as a priority? Milner is not worth the fee or the wages he commands. A midfield of Osman, Pienaar, Barkley and Gibson is adequate,Barry will probably sign as well and then there are the kids coming through.
