Tottenham Hotspur have always placed an emphasis on youth as a vehicle for the North London outfit’s continual progression. Over the years, the likes of Gareth Bale, Kyle Walker, Aaron Lennon and Michael Dawson, all sourced from the lower tiers of English football in their early twenties, have been brought in and emerged as loyal and integral servants for the Lilywhites.
And this summer, as a result of Bale’s £86million departure to Real Madrid, Tottenham’s tendency to invest in potential took a continental twist, as the Premier League club snapped up some of Europe’s hottest young properties, including Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen.
Under Andre Villas-Boas and with new Technical Director Franco Baldini heading transfer proceedings, Spurs are expected to continue in their vein of buying young prodigies and giving them the chance to raise their game to the next level.
