The first game of the Premier League weekend is done and dusted as Bournemouth and Tottenham played out a 0-0 draw at the Vitality Stadium.
Both teams went into the game in good form with the Cherries coming off the back of a 6-1 win over Hull City whilst Spurs were the only unbeaten side left in the league, and so that record remains.
It could have been different, though. The first half suggested that Spurs were feeling a little leggy after their Champions League excursion in the week as Bournemouth forced a decent early save from Hugo Lloris.
Eventually, the Lilywhites grew into the game but neither side could find the breakthrough. After half-time Spurs had woken up and looked a bit more like their usual selves, but still couldn't make many clear cut chances with the south coast club remaining a threat on the break.
A draw was probably a fair result, then, and here are FIVE pictures to help sum it up...
A real fight
Neither side were willing to budge during this game and this picture shows just one of the many challenges that went on throughout the 90 minutes. As far as 0-0s go it was a pretty entertaining one with both sides having chances to take the three points. There were a fair few yellow cards dished out by Craig Pawson, too, in what was a proper Premier League battle.
Lucky Lamela
Speaking of yellow cards here is a man that could, arguably, count himself lucky to have not received two in this game. Already on a booking Erik Lamela soon committed another foul after, and it would not have surprised many at all had another booking followed. The home fans were in doubt as to what they wanted to see happen to the Argentine but Pawson decided to let him off.
Bournemouth and Howe impress
The Cherries are on a bit of an upward trajectory at the moment and credit has to go to Eddie Howe for the way he's helped conduct it. The players are clearly listening to his every word with the way they went about taking Spurs on and they certainly looked like a well-established Premier League side today. Second season syndrome, so far, is not something they need to worry about.
Frustration for Pochettino
Spurs just didn't look themselves, particularly in the first half. Whether there was a bit of tiredness from the game in the Champions League earlier this week or not they couldn't implement their pressing game as much as they would have liked. In the second half they did grow into the game but they never really had Bournemouth on the rack at any point in the match.
Opportunity missed for both sides
Bournemouth will probably be the happier of the two sides with a point though they may feel they could have won the game. Spurs, meanwhile will feel that their slow start to the first half cost them and may look back on it in months to come and rue not grabbing the three points here. The game was there to be won by both sides in the end but neither side could take it.
