It’s the most magical time of the year…. No, it’s not Christmas, it’s the FA Cup Third Round weekend that arrives early in January on an annual basis to pick us all up from our post-festive period blues.
And this year it’s delivered again (Cambridge and Leeds are yet to play, so we could have even more to talk about!) with some interesting games and scorelines through the matches played already.
And where better to start that with Wayne Rooney getting a bit… erm… shirty during what should have been a magical day for him. The Red Devils skipper scored in a heavy win over Reading at Old Trafford to equal Sir Bobby Charlton’s goalscoring record of 249 for the club. However, one of the big stories the papers went with was his shirt-swap-snub at the hands of George Evans (although it turns out they did indeed exchange garments in the tunnel afterwards), and it seems Wazza wasn’t too happy with that given his reaction on Twitter…
Elsewhere Liverpool fired 28 shots at goal against League Two Plymouth Argyle on Sunday only to be held to a 0-0 draw which will see them travel to Devon for a replay, while the likes of Stoke, Bournemouth and West Brom were all eliminated by lower league opposition.
As ever, we have @RyanJayBailey in the house to discuss the big talking points…
