Inter Milan have made Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel a transfer target in their attempts to rebuild their squad over the summer, Mirror reports.
The Nigerian spent eight years at the London club but has fallen down the pecking order to Nemanja Matic.
The Serbian was a £21million signing in January and has become’s Jose Mourinho’s choice to play as the shield in front of the back four, pushing Mikel down the pecking order.
Mikel has only started in 10 Premier league games – coming on as a substitute an additional 13 times – and his lack of first team action has alerted Inter Milan.
The Serie-A giants are also considering Manchester City’s Javi Garcia and Tottenham’s Sandro as alternatives to the 27-year-old as they look towards rebuilding their team after another underwhelming season.
Meanwhile Chelsea youngster Kenneth Omerou is being targeted by Ligue-1 side Lille.
The defender is expected to play alongside Mikel for Nigeria in this summer’s World Cup after an impressive loan spell at Middlesbrough this season.
