Both Loic Remy and Charlie Austin have been heavily linked with moves away from their current clubs, with many different sources quoting many different prices for the two strikers. The most consistent price is £15m for Charlie Austin (Daily Telegraph) and £10m for Chelsea's Loic Remy (The Independent), but who is really worth more?

Charlie Austin is 25-years-old and has had one season of Premier League football, scoring an impressive eighteen goals for relegated QPR, a commendable achievement for a player that played in a side that struggled all season.

Whilst Loic Remy left Loftus Road for Stamford Bridge for £10.5m last summer, he is 28-years-old and was mainly used as a back-up striker for Jose Mourinho's side last season behind star striker Diego Costa.

Despite this he managed to score nine goals from 29 appearances in all competitions, many of which were off the bench. So it is fair to say that the pair were evenly matched with goals scored from matches played last season.

But what Remy has that Austin has not is more Premier League experience. The Frenchman has had half a season at QPR in the Premier League and a full season at Newcastle, where he scored 14 goals in 27 games, plus last season at Chelsea, of course. Whereas Austin has just one Premier League season under his belt so far.

Remy is more proven at Premier League level but Austin is younger and has not reached his peak age yet, which tends to be around 28-to-30-years-old.

Whether Austin can replicate his goal scoring form for QPR last season for a Premier League club this season remains to be seen, but it is highly likely that he won't be plying his trade in the Championship much longer.

Both strikers are likely to move to pastures new this summer, and given the right clubs it would be interesting to see which one of the pair gets more goals.

Both players have a great deal of potential and ability to score goals, so a value of over £8m for each of them is a good price in the current market. However as Austin is English, for whatever reason, his price gets seriously hiked up.

For example, Arsenal signed Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona for £35m, whilst Liverpool are demanding £50m for Raheem Sterling, a player who is far less proven than Sanchez.

And it is this price hiking that will inevitably mean that despite similar goal scoring records and ability, Austin's likely fee will be around the £15m mark rather than the £8m mark that the pair should be evenly matched at.

It is difficult to see why the QPR striker should be worth more than Remy, who has had 31 international caps and scored 100 goals at top level football, compared to Austin's 18 and zero appearances at international level.

It would be a gamble for any club to spend £15m on Austinm but he may well prove to be worth the value and could become be a striker who produces 15+ Premier League goals every season for the next three or four campaigns.

It is the sort of gamble clubs like West Ham and Newcastle may have to weigh up; do they go for the more proven striker in Remy or the inexperienced forward with higher potential?

But what is for sure is that the pair should be evenly priced and should not be £7-8m apart it terms of valuation.
