The Italian midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to England, with Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all reportedly interested. But the 34-year-old has spoken about his desire to stay with current club Juventus:
“I thought many times in previous years about being able to play overseas.” said Pirlo. “But I came here [Juventus] where I feel good. I think this is the best place for me to be.”
Pirlo, who scored a delightful chip in the penalty shootout between England and Italy at Euro 2012, has been a regular top performer in Serie A for years now, for both Juventus and AC Milan. A two-time Champions League winner, and four-time lifter of the Serie A title, Pirlo has been admired by the English clubs, who all wanted the Italian to end his career at their respective clubs.
But the midfielder has drowned all suggestion of a move to England, as he looks to win his third straight Italian league title with Juventus. Pirlo joined the Old Lady for a free transfer in 2011, and has been a key player in the Juventus midfield, alongside Arturo Vidal.
