Although the 2015/16 campaign will likely be defined by a whole manner of differing factors, Claudio Ranieri and his Leicester City outfit will surely end up going down as the standout team of the year.

However, although the likes of Demarai Gray and Daniel Amartey will possibly serve to impress at the King Power Stadium in the not too distant future, this plucky Foxes side could have potentially benefited with an extra acquisition in the striking department this January, just to keep the good times flowing for Leicester City.

So as a last minute loan move for Chelsea’s Loic Remy eventually failed to take place for Claudio Ranieri, will the Foxes live to regret their failure to land the former French international before the close of the January window?

Even though the Stamford Bridge faithful haven’t quite seen the best of their 29-year-old French striker since he first joined up with the Blues back in the summer of 2014, that doesn’t necessarily make Loic Remy out to be a bad player.

Although the former Marseille, QPR and Newcastle United man may have indeed wasted a fair amount of his recent career whilst at Stamford Bridge, Remy arguably represents one of the most underrated strikers in the Premier League.

When it comes to scoring in one-on-one situations and playing the role of an out-in-out centre-forward as well as someone who can also operate rather effectively on the flanks – this is a player few top-flight sides wouldn’t benefit from having on board this season.

Chelsea have seemingly failed to get the best out of Loic Remy during his rather forgettable stay at their club, which goes to show just how under-valued the now front-man really is down at Stamford Bridge.

Leicester City could have done with a player like Loic Remy in their first team, for even though the likes of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez have done the business in front of goal for Claudio Ranieri’s side thus far, the Foxes are arguably one key injury away from seeing their shock title hopes fade into oblivion.

Both Leonardo Ulloa and Shinji Okazaki represent decent enough striking options, but will their efforts be enough to keep Leicester City perched right at the top of the Premier League table if either Mahrez or Vardy face an unforeseen spell out on the side-lines this season?

Loic Remy would have fit in perfectly with the counter-attacking style of play successfully adopted by Ranieri. The former Magpies striker could have given the current Leicester ranks a nice little boost in the striking department and as he has scored goals wherever he has played, surely Remy would have fared no differently with the Foxes this term.

Although some sections of the King Power faithful might have even turned their noses up at the thought of landing Loic Remy this January – seeing as Leicester seem to be plugging along just fine at the minute, this is just the kind of asset who could have hit the ground running, especially as Andrej Kramaric has already departed the Foxes set-up in rather unceremonious fashion.

In the end, few will ever remember this transfer saga if Leicester City ultimately go on to achieve the impossible at the end of the season, but if the current Premier League leaders eventually miss out on something special this term, Claudio Ranieri may indeed live to regret his side’s recent failure to land the current Chelsea bench-warmer.
