It's a story that has gripped the footballing world. On Monday night Leicester City were crowned Premier League champions without even having to step foot on the pitch. It's a remarkable turnaround for a team that only last season were flirting with relegation, and tributes from around the world have been pouring in non-stop to Claudio Ranieri and his men.But whilst many doubt we will never see a feat like this again in our lifetime, some have been deliberating whether or not this could actually happen, even as soon as next season. Leicester retaining the league would still be unbelievable, yet some have gone as far as to suggest that it could be one of the promoted teams who could follow in their footsteps. Skybet suggested yesterday that over 800 bets had been placed on Burnley to win the league after their promotion was confirmed earlier this week, but could it be done? The odds really do suggest no, but after the bashing they've had this season, the bookies have been a lot more reserved with their odds for the next Premier League winner. The furthest they've extended odds to is 1000/1, and that's for the likes of Burnley, Watford and even West Brom. Whilst many can't see it happening, long-shot bets will be all the trend after the fairytale stories we've seen sweep the nation this season. The bookies are running scared, and it's clear to see. To drop the odds by 4000/1 is a massive statement - they don't want this to happen again. But do they have a chance? Let’s take Burnley for example. Sam Vokes' header secured them a passage back into the top flight earlier this week, but if you take a look at their squad, you do question whether it’s enough to even mount a serious claim to stay in the league. Whilst TV money has growing importance for smaller teams in the Premier League, the Clarets look like a team of battlers. Surely Joey Barton wouldn't be the man to lift the Premier League trophy?Whilst Burnley's intention was always to get promoted, balancing the books was seen as a far more important feat - which they've achieved. They reported profits in excess of £30m back in March and whilst this is a trivial sum for some of the Premier League big-boys, for Burnley it was of paramount importance.A better suggestion for a title winner would be someone like Liverpool, but even they have only been offered odds of 9/1. They're a team that, on their day, can beat anyone, but they're littered with average players. But what we'll have to do is wait for next season. Love them or hate them, Leicester City have got everyone talking about the Premier League again, and the interest will be higher than ever when next season starts. It will take something special to recreate this footballing fairytale.
