It was the season of all seasons for Leicester City during the 2015/2016 campaign after the Foxes upset all the odds to win the Premier League title for the first time in their history.

Supporters, players and managers from all over the world watched in amazement as Claudio Ranieri led his side to one of the most unexpected victories in sporting history, championed by the likes of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez.

Whether it was a once in a lifetime achievement is yet to be seen, but Foxes fans will go into the next campaign with renewed optimism and, for the first time in their history, a place in the Champions League.

And whilst the likes of Vardy, Mahrez and Kante dominated headlines all over the world last season, there were fringe players that played a big part in the title success too- step forward messers Demarai Gray.

The former Birmingham winger signed a deal with the Foxes in January, mid-way through their title charge, and its fair to say it didn't take the youngster long to settle at the King Power.

For a player so young, Gray carries and extraordinarily mature head on his shoulders and at 20-years-old, not many players can claim to have won a Premier League winners medal.

Often used as a second half substitute to relieve tired legs, Gray played as much of a part in the title success as anyone, using his pace to run at attackers when the game was coming to an end. It was a big part of Ranieri's plan as the season came to an exciting end, but a tactic that proved extremely successful when it came to closing games out.

But we also saw a defensive aptness about Gray, killing time when the Foxes were on the fringes of victory on several occasions. And few would be surprised to see the pacey winger given even more game time next season, as he potentially looks to break into the first-team for good.

Despite the success, there is a certain element of uncertainty surrounding the club. Whilst the majority of the squad have committed their long-term futures to the club, fans and fellow colleagues would have been disappointed to see N'Golo Kante leave the club to join Chelsea earlier this month.  Also rumoured to be looking at an exit is Riyad Mahrez - another key figure in the side last season.

But with all these transfer rumours and uncertainty comes the chance for players like Gray to impress the manager in pre-season, and going into the new campaign. We saw Gray perform well for the hour he played during a pre-season tie with Oxford United earlier this week, where he scored the Foxes opener and officially, their first goal of the new campaign.

Again, this will do little to harm his chances of being given more game-time when the new season rolls around in August. Leicester will have Champions League, League matches and Cup matches to play this year and Ranieri will be reliant on the whole of his squad, as he was during the campaign last season- another plus point for the ever-encouraging Gray.

But again, at 20-years-old, to be part of such a special group of players is a real coup for Gray and it will really help his development. He is playing under one of the leagues' most respected managers, in a squad where the pressure is completely off.

If Gray can continue to play with freedom then I'm sure it won't be long before we see the youngsters' name up in lights once again.

After all, with Big Sam taking the reigns at England, Dimmy could soon become a senior lion, as well as a senior fox.
