Liverpool and Manchester City have been alerted to the news that Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes wants a move to the Premier League, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 32-year-old is set to leave the Nou Camp when his contract expires at the end of the season, and mega-rich French club Monaco had been the favourites for his signature.

But Valdes has reportedly told his advisors he fancies a switch to the Premier League, and is hoping to sound out potential options before the end of the campaign.

Valdes has won 19 caps for his country, often finding his place in the Spanish national team taken by the likes of Iker Casillas and Pepe Reina in recent years.

He has won six La Liga titles and three Champions League’s during his time with the Catalan giants, but is now set to look for a new challenge.

Liverpool and Manchester City have been mentioned as possible destinations, after City number one Joe Hart found himself dropped earlier in the season following a series of mistakes.

Meanwhile Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has conceded 35 goals so far during his debut season, with Newcastle the only other Premier League team in the top half to have conceded more.
