Referee Anthony Taylor has ensured the debate about the quality of refereeing in the Premier League continues for at least another week following a number of poor decisions in Liverpool‘s 2-1 win over West Ham on Sunday.
Firstly he overruled his linesman to give the Hammers goal, despite Andy Carroll clearly fouling Reds stopper Simon Mignolet, and then he gifted the visitors a penalty for Adrian’s challenge on Jon Flanagan, which replays show he clearly won the ball and that the penalty was wrongly awarded.
So it’s no real surprise that Taylor was on the wrong end of an absolute pasting from both sets of supporters on Twitter, with Liverpool fans worried that he’d have a negative impact on their title charge and Hammers fans gutted that one of their best performances of the season was all but ruined by the official.
