Liverpool are planning a summer raid for Barcelona ace Javier Mascherano, Mirror reports.
The former Reds star only has a year left on his current contract and could be on the cards for a sensational return for around £9m.
Agents are sounding out potential moves for the 29-year-old Barcelona midfielder, with the Premier League a very possible destination.
Mascherano is also being tracked by other clubs around Europe, with Napoli very interested in his services.
However the Argentine international was happy at Anfield before leaving for Barcelona in 2010, but is now not a part of the club’s long term plans.
Mascherano, after possibly his last game for the Catalan club, stated: “It could be the last for many players.”
Before his playing days at Liverpool, Mascherano enjoyed a year at West Ham United with fellow countryman Carlos Tevez back in 2006-2007.
The pair moved on a year later, Tevez opting for Manchester United and Mascherano going to Liverpool respectively.
Mascherano won two La Liga titles, a Copa del Rey, and a Champions League trophy during his time at the Nou Camp.
