Liverpool are worried they could miss out on Adam Lallana this summer if Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino decides to take the vacant managerial role at Tottenham, reported the Daily Star.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has reportedly approached the St. Mary’s club to ask of the availability of Pochettino following the sacking of Tim Sherwood.

And Liverpool, who were inititial favourites to sign the England international, are now worried that a deal could be at risk should Pochettino persuade Lallana to follow him to White Hart Lane, should he take the job.

It’s believed the Reds are on the verge of a £20million deal for Lallana, who is understood to be desperate for a move to a club competing in the Champions League.

But Levy could tempt Pochettino by promising the funds to bring one or two of his Saints players to North London with him.

Frank de Boer is also a front-runner for the White Hart Lane hot-seat, and Rodgers will be hoping the Dutchman is Levy’s choice of manager so he can go ahead and finalise a move for the Saints midfielder.
