The England international has recently slipped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho, who has opted to bench him in favour of Cesar Azpilicueta.
When quizzed about Cole’s role in their upcoming clash with Arsenal, ‘The Special One’ confirmed that the defender is unlikely to feature stating that he will be watching the game “from the bench or at home.”
Mourinho is believed to have been angered further by his 33-year-old star after amid reports that he attended his former club Arsenal’s Christmas party.
This has alerted Spurs and Liverpool, with the pair believed to be keen to offer the experienced ace an escape route.
Tottenham are known to be in the market for a left-back following Danny Rose’s injury hit start to the season, while Reds chief Brendan Rodgers is also open to snapping up a top class option in the role after being forced into playing Jon Flanagan – a right-sided defender – in the role.
Cole himself could be willing to make a move, with regular playing time ahead of the 2014 World Cup needed to keep himself ahead of Leighton Baines in Roy Hodgson’s plans.
