However, the 31-year-old has cooled speculation surrounding his future, claiming that no plans have been made:
“Hi everyone, I want to declare that I haven’t said anything regarding my future yet – I will do when the time comes.” He wrote on his official Twitter account.
“Everything that has been said in this respect are speculations.”
Although he is regarded as an important first-team player at the Nou Camp, it is believed that Barcelona are preparing for his possible departure.
Manchester United’s David de Gea has been outlined as a potential successor, with the Old Trafford club thought to be willing to allow him to leave.
Valdes has spent over 20 years with Barca, graduating from their youth set-up to make over 300 senior appearances.
