Brendan Rodgers feels Daniel Sturridge will prove to be a “great signing” for Liverpool but insists the forward can still improve.
Sturridge joined the Reds from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the January transfer window and has made an encouraging start to life at Anfield with five goals in nine appearances.
The striker was left out of the starting line-up for the win over Aston Villa last time out and could again find himself on the bench when West Ham visit this weekend.
Rodgers has been pleased with the £12million signing’s impact so far, but the Reds boss insists Sturridge can still improve further and has challenged the frontman to establish himself as a regular starter.
“He has settled in very well,” Rodgers told the Daily Post.
“But he still has lots of aspects of his game to work on in order to achieve what he wants to and to allow him to make the kind of impact that we want.
“He has made a very promising start and as long as he maintains that same level of commitment and responsible attitude to improving, I can see him being a great signing for the club.”
