With a wry smile, infectious humour and unrivalled enthusiasm, it’s hard to ignore the bespectacled German who has taken to life at Liverpool like a duck to water.

Jurgen Klopp has managed to breathe life into a team that appeared stagnant at the beginning of the season. A Europa League final appearance was a small indication of what Klopp can achieve through sheer brilliance in man management.

However, even the most committed Kopite could not argue that the squad at Liverpool needs a facelift. With Klopp having only managed in his home country prior to his appointment at Liverpool and the talent pool in Germany incredibly deep, it seems likely that the former Dortmund man will look to the Bundesliga to find the next stars to grace the Anfield turf.

We’ve picked out FIVE Bundesliga players that we believe are on Liverpool’s transfer radar...

Mario Gotze

A perennial benchwarmer at Bayern Munich, Mario Gotze seems to be looking for a way out of German football, after spending much of this season frequenting the touchline.

Gotze to Liverpool could well be a match made in heaven. With a manager who knows how to get the best out of him in Jurgen Klopp, a fan base that have been calling for his signature for months and the challenge of proving to Pep Guardiola exactly what he can do if played, Gotze could well become a hero at Anfield.

However, a statement by the player himself seemed to suggest that he may be remaining at Bayern and proving himself under Carlo Ancelotti.

This one could rumble on all summer.

Niklas Sule

With Schalke centre back Joel Matip already signed up for next season, Klopp will surely continue to bolster a defence which has looked incredibly inconsistent this season.

Niklas Sule is a long term answer to Liverpool’s continuing defensive issues. At just 20 years of age, the 6ft. 5" defender has played nearly 70 times for Hoffenheim and has impressed scouts with his athleticism and aggression.

With a Germany call up imminent, young Sule could well be one of the most lauded defenders in the world in years to come, especially under the tutelage of Klopp.

Jonas Hector

While some of the blame placed at the feet of Alberto Moreno after Liverpool’s Europa League final collapse has been slightly severe, there is no doubt that Klopp will be looking to bolster his options at left back, and Jonas Hector may be the ideal option.

Hector, who finished third, behind David Alaba and Marcel Schmelzer in the Bundesliga's left-back of the year voting, has 12 German caps to his name and is fast becoming one of the most consistent players in Germany.

Nicknamed 'Mr. Reliable' by the media in Cologne, Hector may well be exactly what Klopp is looking for in a defender – a no-nonsense, dependable talent.

Leroy Sane

Sane

Perhaps the most talked about young player in Germany right now, Leroy Sane has been touted as a future world star and has already gained an international cap.

Reports are surfacing suggesting that Manchester City are leading the race to sign the 20-year-old but Liverpool are also believed to hold serious interest.

The tricky winger would work perfectly within Klopp’s system, with his stamina and pace unwavering until the final whistle.

Antonio Rudiger

Yet another defender who could well be on his way to Anfield this summer, Roma have decided not to take up the option to buy the 23-year-old, despite an impressive loan spell from Stuttgart.

Should Mamadou Sakho fail to return from his forced hiatus, Rudiger would be the perfect replacement, although with far more composure than the Frenchman.
