There's positives to take from Liverpool's opening to this season's Premier League campaign despite only having four points to show for it.

The Reds looked set to blow Arsenal away on the first day but let them back in for a nervy finish. Then, they went to Burnley and despite having 80% possession, they simply could not find a way through to lose 2-0.

Finally, at the weekend, the men from Anfield were again in the ascendancy against Tottenham but couldn't put the game to bed and let the Londoners take a 1-1 draw.

Nevertheless, all the games have shown that the Merseysiders have adopted Jurgen Klopp's instructions well whilst his new signings seem to have started in decent fashion.

All concerned with the club will hope that is to continue and the German might feel a few more additions could help them really uproot trees this season.

With this in mind, we've looked at Ligue 1 to bring you five players the Reds should sign in this window...

Olivier Boscagli

It's early days but in Joel Matip's first couple of games he's looked pretty assured at the back and that's exactly what the Reds needed.

If he and Dejan Lovren can form a decent partnership the men from Anfield won't need an instant replacement at centre-half and could perhaps look to the future instead.

Boscagli is only 18 but played in Ligue 1 eleven times last season for Nice so is one to watch for the future.

Layvin Kurzawa

Layvin Kurzawa

There's little time left in the transfer window now and it really does seem that Liverpool are going to go with James Milner in that position.

If they do decide, however, to bring in a more orthodox option, Kurzawa would be ideal. The young PSG man is exactly the kind of player the Reds go for and would benefit from Jurgen Klopp's tutelage.

He might cost a substantial amount, though.

Marco Verratti

Marco Verratti

Liverpool need some extra bite in midfield. So far the most consistently appearing three in the Reds' central positions have been Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana and Giorginio Wijnaldum but none of them strike you as a player to break opposition attacks up.

Verratti would take on this role for Liverpool and do it well ensuring the team are much tighter defensively as they burst forward.

Issiaga Sylla

The Guinea international can play as a left winger but is primarily a left back. It looks as though James Milner is going to be the Reds' first choice left back but if the club need a strong back up instead of Alberto Moreno, Sylla is a good option.

The sticking point with the aforementioned Kurzawa is that he may cost a fair bit from PSG but Sylla would be much cheaper.

Lucas Moura

PSG Lucas Moura

The introduction of Sadio Mane to the Reds' team has been so far hugely beneficial for their attacking play.

The Anfield side can get forward far quicker and with more purpose than previously because of his pace so it would make sense to get another player with his traits to come in.

Lucas Moura certainly fits the bill; he's quick, he's got good feet and he's young too - so he's only going to get better.
