Today’s article takes a look at players you can purchase from Liverpool, suggesting one player for each position (goalkeepers go under defence) before tipping a budget option and a player worth of a punt.

Defence

Sakho

Liverpool’s back-line is one of the toughest to choose with a multitude of players able to start in Brendan Rodgers’s set up.

Dejan Lovren just completed a £20million move from Southampton and is expected to feature regularly in the season, but we are putting our faith in France international Mamadou Sakho.

Priced at 5.5 (same as Lovren and Agger), the Frenchman had a solid World Cup and struggled through much of last season with injury last season. We expect Sakho to be a mainstay at centre-back, especially if Barcelona target Daniel Agger leaves Anfield this summer.

Midfield

Sterling

Although many will stick with consistent captain Steven Gerrard, we believe that this will be the break-out season for English youngster Raheem Sterling.

Priced at a moderate 8.5, Sterling scored nine goals and provided seven assists in the league last year but with Luis Suarez’s departure to Barcelona, much of the attacking impetus will fall on the 19-year-old winger.

Sterling will however not provide much of a differential, with 22.3% of players already placing him into their respective squads.

Forward

Sturridge

Last season Luis Suarez was the definite Liverpool player of choice to rack in some points for you Fantasy team. But this year (unless Liverpool buy another top striker), the goals will need to come from England international Daniel Sturridge.

Mind you last season Sturridge had an incredible campaign, but his 22 goals and 8 assists were just out-shown by his partner Luis Suarez. We do however believe the 11.5 priced striker will improve on his tally this season as he attempts to carry the team on his shoulder.

Again Sturridge is a popular pick, selected in 29% of teams in the Official Fantasy Premier League.

Bargain Buy

Jordan Henderson

Scoring four goals and providing seven assists and playing over 3100 minutes, it’s hard to imagine Jordan Henderson is only priced at 6.0 in the Fantasy Premier League market. The midfielder is a guaranteed starter in Brendan Rodgers’ setup, also capable of playing on the wings in the case of injury... boosting his appeal.

This could also be a breakout season for Henderson, who has always been touted as the man to replace legendary captain Gerrard in the centre-midfield.

With consistent starts and an increasing eye for goal, there aren’t much better midfielders in the game at 6.0.

Worth a Punt

Markovic1

Lazar Markovic was a £20million purchase from Benfica this summer, and albeit being only 20 years of age, has already been earmarked to become one of the world’s finest players.

And while critics are impressed, his team-mates have been as well. The Serbian winger was deployed on the left side of Rodger’s three-man pronged attack to great effect during the pre-season.

What boosts the appeal to buy the 7.5 priced midfielder is that Adam Lallana is set to miss the first six weeks of Premier League action, giving Markovic the chance to shine and even keep Lallana on the bench upon his return.

Only selected by 2.1%, Markovic is definitely a gamble, but he could give explosively differential results.
