Joe Allen was very much meant to be the focal point of Rodgers’ new look side at Liverpool. The talented young Welshman embodies everything that the manager wants in his side, with the onus being on an expansive passing game carried over from his Swansea days. This simply hasn’t happened at Liverpool, with Henderson and Gerrard dominating the midfield and Allen forced into the periphery. On the rare occasion he has had a chance the impacts have been minimal; glaring misses and deliberative passing have forced Allen well down the pecking order. Liverpool shelled out £15m for their man back in 2012, and they will now do well to recoup half that amount.
