Ok, so maybe their title fate is out of Liverpool’s hands, being two points behind Manchester City with just one game left of the Premier League campaign remaining.
But the Reds’ final day clash with Newcastle is an absolute banker in terms of all three points. The Magpies have been woeful in the second half of the season, claiming just 16 points from their last 20 league outings.
They may have instigated a slight revival in form to end their record-breaking six-match losing streak last weekend with a victory against Cardiff, but it’s unlikely they’ll put up a similar fight upon visiting Anfield this Sunday.
Furthermore, Newcastle’s biggest flaw is undoubtedly their atrociously-organised defence, which the free-scoring Anfield side, currently on 99 goals for the campaign, will surely be able to pick apart with relative ease.
The ball may not be in Liverpool’s court in terms of the title initiative, but facing a Newcastle side that are likely to quietly roll over on Sunday and start day-dreaming about their summer holidays, the Reds should easily be able to keep the pressure on City with a comfortable win.
