It's been a busy transfer window for Liverpool this Summer as Jurgen Klopp aims to turn his side into genuine title challengers.

The German has had his first pre-season at the club to instill his ideas of how he wants his team to play so there can be few excuses if the team do not improve on last season's eighth place finish in the league.

Loris Karius, Joel Matip, Giorginio Wijnaldum and Sadio Mane are just some of the new faces in training at Melwood this year and their new boss will be hoping they gel quickly.

The signs were certainly there on the opening day as the Reds won away at Arsenal but it also highlighted the team are far from the finished article.

Klopp may try to work with what he has but could also go shopping once more, perhaps looking at the Italian market.

There are plenty of options available to him, so this is why we're bringing you FIVE Serie A stars Liverpool should sign...

Alessio Romagnoli

Liverpool have signed Ragnar Klavan and Joel Matip at centre-half whilst also letting Martin Skrtel go. Meanwhile Mamadou Sakho has had his fair share of problems recently so places are certainly up for grabs.

Romagnoli would certainly be in with a chance of starting despite his young age and could be on course for a bright career. If Liverpool want to start planning for the future, the Italian would be a good place to start.

Ivan Perisic

Ivan Perisic

Perisic scored a great goal at Euro 2016 against Spain for Croatia - highlighting the ability he has.

Sadio Mane has shown what kind of team Liverpool can be with some pace and width and Perisic would add to that.

The Inter Milan winger is direct with his running and plays on the opposite side to Mane so would give the Reds another option to mix their tactics up a bit.

Federico Bernardeschi

Federico Bernardeschi

There's a lot of hope surrounding Bernardeschi at current club Fiorentina. The attacking midfielder drifts past opposition players as if they're not there and also has a cannon of a shot on him.

Comparisons have been drawn between him and Francesco Totti which tells you how good he could be so despite Liverpool's good attacking options already, the Italian would be worth a look.

Faouzi Ghoulam

Faouzi Ghoulam

The Algerian left-back plays his club football for Napoli.

With Liverpool needing a new left-back after Alberto Moreno's slow start to the season the Naples man could be just what the Reds need.

At the age of 25 he's coming into his prime and would surely start for Liverpool ahead of the Spaniard. Napoli may not want to sell but the Reds need to try at least.

Yuto Nagatomo

Nagatomo

The Japanese international is a bit older than Ghoulam but would still do a good job at left-back for Liverpool.

He has got a lot of pace, which would suit Jurgen Klopp's high intensity game plan, but also bags of experience that the Reds seem to be lacking at the moment at the back.

The match at the Emirates saw the side's game-management come into question but Nagatomo would help repair that.
