The lack of transfer chatter currently surrounding Marseille star Andre Ayew is genuinely shocking.
The 24 year-old is Ligue 1’s most prolific wideman, boasting a return of 49 goals and 16 assists in 161 appearances for L’OM, and has made no secret of his desire to leave Stade Velodrome this summer with his current contract set to expire at the end of next season.
In a nutshell, half of Europe should be courting the £10million-rated midfielder right now.
And despite Ayew being a known Reds target over the past few seasons, in no small part due to the fact he’d address Liverpool’s desperate need for an established winger, the tabloids are yet to produce anything concrete to suggest he’ll be on his way to Merseyside this summer.
Perhaps Brendan Rodgers is waiting to see the Marseille talisman in action at the World Cup; at South Africa 2010, Ayew’s performances helped the Black Stars reach the quarter-final, a tournament which Ayew has since claimed ‘saved his career’.
Should he be able to reproduce that level of form from 2010 in Brazul, then the Anfield boss may feel compelled to make an offer before someone else does.
