French Under-21 international Lucas Digne has defended his decision to reject Liverpool and move to Paris St-Germain this summer, talkSPORT reports.

The 20-year-old opted for the Ligue One champions over Merseyside, but has thus far started just two of their opening nine fixtures and speculation has already surfaced about a potential move away from the club.

In spite of the rumours, however, Digne remains determined to fight for his place – something he reiterated to French newspaper L’Equipe.

“I knew that I would be competing with big players if I chose PSG. I think it would be sad to have any regrets after just one month,” Digne said.

“This season we will have 65-70 games, I know that my time will come.”

Should he continue to be omitted from the starting XI, however, the prospect of a fresh start could be appealing. One possible destination could be Roma, a move that would see him reunited with his former manager at Lille, Rudi Garcia.

For the time being though, it seems the Frenchman will have to bide his time.
