Serbia’s international team manager Ljubinko Drulovic believes that Lazar Markovic will be a success at Liverpool.
The 20-year-old attacker is understood to be on the verge of completing a £20m switch to Merseyside after a fee was agreed between the Reds and Benfica over the weekend.
Markovic has only been at his current club for one year after leaving his boyhood side Partizan Belgrade, but his performances in Lisbon have been enough to alert a host of top European clubs, including Chelsea.
With Luis Suarez heading to Barcelona, there has been some trepidation surrounding the youngster’s signing, with many Liverpool fans unsure if he has the ability to help fill the void to be left by last season’s top Premier League scorer.
But Drulovic is confident that his international star will be a hit at Anfield:
“Markovic made an excellent season at Benfica last year, he evolved a lot,” he is quoted by The Mirror.
“It’ll be good for him and Benfica. Going to a very strong league will help him even more to become a major player worldwide.
“He’s 20 years old and has a long time to play. Markovic could prove to become a very important player in Europe.”
