A story run by ESPN claims that the long-standing saga between Jurgen Klopp and defender Mamadou Sakho could be coming to an end after the German told the press that he had cleared the air with the Frenchman.

He said: "I spoke to the team and I spoke to Mama and we spoke together and that's it. From my side everything is done and now we can carry on."

Sakho hasn't featured for the Reds this season after being a mainstay last year, due to his antics during the club's pre-season tour, which saw him sent home early, combined with an Achilles injury. However, it appears he may soon come back into the fold at Anfield...

Should he stay?

Despite Klopp's words that this is over, it'll be interesting to see what happens the next time something flares up between the two. Sakho is clearly a strong minded character and has a big personality that borders on being too much, and that could see him in trouble again, which would give his manager a decision to make.

This season has seen the Frenchman drop down the pecking order at Anfield behind Joel Matip as the chief partner to Dejan Lovren, and with the former Schalke man's performances impressive so far, he may find himself on the bench a great deal this season.

What he does have in his favour, or at least he used to, is the status of being a fans' favourite. Sakho has embraced the city of Liverpool's culture during his time and that has made him a hit, but you do get the feeling, with Klopp assembling a very good-looking side, that even this can't really save him should something else arise - fans are worried that his actions could upset the rest of the team should he kick-off again.

There's no doubt he's more than welcome to stay and be a part of the side, but you get the feeling that with one wrong move now, he'll be gone, so really it's down to him.

Klopp's set the boundaries, Sakho needs to stay within them. Failure to do that and he'll be out.
