Pepe Reina says that it is not out of the question for him to return to Liverpool once his loan spell at Napoli ends.
The Spanish stopper is currently on a season-long stint with the Serie A giants after leaving Merseyside when Simon Mignolet was signed last summer.
With his future uncertain, talk has recently started surrounding where the experienced glovesman will be playing his football next term.
Reds chief Brendan Rodgers seemingly poured cold water on claims that Reina may return to Anfield, however rumours of a potential switch to Barcelona have quietened down in recent weeks.
The 31-year-old says that he is still a Liverpool player, fuelling talk of a possible comeback:
“I have two years left on my contract.” He is quoted by the Daily Star.
“Liverpool got another goalkeeper [Simon Mignolet] and they told me they were happy to loan me for a season.
“It was strange but I don’t regret it.
Reina developed into a Liverpool fans’ favourite after his 2005 arrival, playing a key part in their 2006 FA Cup win and run to the Champions League final in 2007.
With Mignolet have endured a difficult few months, there have been calls to see the Spain international back on Merseyside from some sections of supporters.
