Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani claims his Uruguay team-mate Luis Suarez is holding out for a dream move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
And the striker was the subject of increased speculation that he will leave Anfield in the summer transfer window, with Arsenal and Real Madrid both tipped to give him an escape from the Premier League.
And Cavani has claimed that a move to Arsenal was never an option for Suarez and that the opportunity to play for Real Madrid would be a dream come true.
He told MailOnline: “It is no surprise to me at all that Luis has come back for Liverpool and is scoring goals right away. He is the most complete striker in England – and one of the most complete strikers in the world.
“I think Arsenal was not Luis’ dream move, maybe if it had been Real Madrid then it would have been a different outcome, but of course Madrid were concentrating on a different target this summer.
“It is his dream club, and a club he thinks is worth waiting for.”
Liverpool set an asking price of £55million in the summer, a fee that Real Madrid were not prepared to meet after paying £86million for Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale, while Arsenal had a £40million plus £1 offer turned down.
