Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Ajaccio’s Guillermo Ochoa, after the goalkeeper admitted that he will consider offers from English clubs this summer.
The Mexican ace is set to be out of contract at the end of the season, with his current deal due to expire in a few months’ time.
This has alerted a host of clubs, with the 28-year-old having been one of French football’s top stoppers for some time.
Liverpool are one of the sides rumoured to be in the hunt, with Brendan Rodgers said to be looking at drafting in a new glovesman to challenge Simon Mignolet.
Ochoa has previously indicated that he is keen to stay in Ligue 1, but now he says that he is eager to listen to offers from sides a little further afield:
“I am evaluating several offers from different countries. I have been in France for three years and I like the way in which this league has evolved, but I would also want to try elsewhere.” He is quoted by talkSPORT.
“At the moment I have no agreements with any team and I am willing to listen to all the proposals to make the best decision possible.
“My agent is dealing with everything and I do not exclude a future in Italy or England.”
Ochoa has made over 100 appearances for Ajaccio since joining them from Club America in his homeland in 2011, and has also represented Mexico on 56 occasions.
