Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is set to raid his former club yet again, this time for defender Ashley Williams according to the Daily Mirror.

Rodgers vowed not to take any of Swansea’s gems when he opted to become the Anfield boss this summer, but it seems he is willing to go back on his word.

Liverpool signed Joe Allen from the South Wales club in pre-season and Rodgers is keen on bringing Williams to the club before the end of the January transfer window.

Williams has been superb for the Swans this season, leading them to the Capital One Cup final at Wembley after beating Chelsea in the semi-final.

If Rodgers has his way, Williams will not be even thinking about lifting Swansea’s first major trophy in their history in February but instead focusing on Liverpool.

Tottenham, Arsenal and Newcastle are all keen on the Welsh international but Rodgers’ relationship with his former captain could work in his favour.
