Mohamed Salah will join Liverpool in the January transfer window, according to former teammate Mohamed Zika, reports the Metro.
The FC Basel winger is thought to be one of the most in demand players in Europe when the window re-opens in January, after series of impressive performances in the Champions League.
Chelsea and Manchester United have both been linked with the winger, but Salah’s former teammate and close friend reckons he is set for a move to Anfield instead.
‘Yes, I am 99% sure this will happen,’ said Zika when asked about Salah joining Liverpool.
‘He makes us and all of Egypt proud. Everybody talks about Mohamed Salah now – and aside from that he’s my friend.
‘I’m very happy for him.’
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed the club will be looking to bring in new talent during the January transfer window, and revealed he will be looking to sign players considered ‘top talent’ and that can ‘hit the ground running’.
The Reds are considered genuine contenders for the top four this season, and could find themselves top of the table at Christmas should they beat Cardiff tomorrow and Arsenal fail to beat Chelsea at the Emirates on Monday.
Salah is likely to cost in the region of £15million.
