Liverpool are reportedly confident of sealing a deal to bring Moncao’s Radamel Falcao to Anfield this summer, according to Metro.

The Columbian international is being chased by Real Madrid and Manchester City as the French outfit look to offload him to help justify their compliance with Financial Fair Play.

But Liverpool are thought to be leading the race for striker, who netted nine goals in 17 Ligue 1 outings before picking up a serious knee injury mid-way through the season.

And he could be heading to the Reds on an initial loan deal before the end of this month, with a view to make the move permanent next summer.

Such a deal would suit Brendan Rodgers, who has already splashed out over £100m on reinforcements this pre-season.

And he is confident he can win the race for the Columbian’s services, beating Premier League champions Manchester City, having already had positive discussions with Monaco.
