Liverpool’s signing of Alberto Moreno for £12m from Sevilla was hailed by many as a very astute piece of business by the Merseyside club.

At 22, the defender could prove to be Liverpool’s left-back for the next decade and has more than just potential with a full season in La Liga already under his belt. Yet all the Spaniard had shown thus far was defensive weakness, with the lack of communication between Moreno and Lovren a particular issue against Man City.

However, Moreno’s best work has always come going forward rather than back, and the left-back showed what he can offer to Liverpool offensively with this wonder goal that started on the halfway line.
