Liverpool are hopeful of completing a deal for Marseille prospect Maxime Lopez in the summer, despite ongoing interest from Arsenal, according to the Daily Mail.
The 16-year-old playmaker is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in French football, and has been attracting interest from a number of top European clubs.
Gunners scout Gilles Grimandi has been to watch him in action in recent weeks, but Liverpool invited Lopez and his family as guests for the recent Merseyside derby.
Lopez is understood to have met with Brendan Rodgers, who was keen to underline how young players have been given a chance during his Anfield tenure.
Rodgers – who has taken his staff for a sunshine break in Tenerife this week – is hoping to attract ‘next level’ signings in the summer, should his side achieve a top four finish as expected.
He remains interested in Swansea duo Ben Davies and Michel Vorm while a deal for Dnipro’s Yevhen Konoplyanka could be revived in the summer, although the club are also weighing up alternatives to the Ukraine international.
One player who could be on his way out of Anfield is Spanish youngster Suso, who is reportedly attracting interest from Sevilla, after a successful loan spell with Spanish side Almeria.
