Liverpool are keen on Racing Club forward Luciano Vietto, according to the player’s agent.
The 20-year-old Argentine is widely regarded as one of the very best emerging players in his homeland, and is already a top flight regular despite his age.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is known to be a fan of young talent, with securing promising players and developing their talent a key part of the Anfield outfit’s ethos under owners Fenway Sports Group.
Vietto is believed to be the latest player to have entered their crosshairs, with a summer swoop being lined up.
The starlet’s agent, Jorge Cysterpiller, says that interest from Liverpool is strong, and that he expects his client to move during the next transfer window:
“We know that many top clubs are following Vietto,” he is quoted by The Metro.
“There is a lot of competition to sign him. Liverpool we know like him and so do Real Madrid – I think also two German teams.
“I think he could move at the end of the European season.”
A pacey forward known for his composed edge in front of goal, Vietto has been compared to compatriot Sergio Aguero, who has developed into one of European football’s finest marksmen while at the Etihad Stadium.
The youngster is a regular in Argentina’s U-20 side, and has netted twice in his last four outings for them.
