Liverpool goalkeeper Brad Jones has warned his team-mates of the threat posed by Guus Hiddink’s Anzhi Makhachkala in their Europa League tie.

The Dutch boss has the ‘magic touch’ according to the stopper, who worked under him in the Australian national set-up.

Hiddink guided the ‘Socceroos’ to the World Cup in 2006, ending a 32-year absence from the competition.

Jones will face the man who helped football in his home nation tonight and has warned his team that they will need to be at their best to get a positive result:

"He seems to have been successful everywhere he's been. He was involved with the Australian national team and everyone speaks highly of him back home.” He is quoted by ESPN.

"He's certainly proved what he can do - in any league in any country, he's always achieved something. He's very experienced and I'm sure he'll have his side ready for us."

The Dagestan-based club have made global headlines over the course of the past few years by splashing the cash to sign up star names.

The likes of Samuel Eto’o, Yuri Zhirkov and Roberto Carlos have all been tempted by the financial rewards given out by the club’s billionaire owner Suleyman Kerimov.

The Reds, who lost their last game in the competition to Udinese, occupy third spot in Group A.
