Liverpool flop demonstrates how NOT to take a corner

Ten minutes to go and Liverpool are still trailing 1-0. Brendan Rodgers looks to his bench in the faint hope that he has a super sub to keep their Premier League aspirations alive.

Step forward Iago Aspas.

The former Celta Vigo striker has yet to score in the Premier League this season but maybe this is the day. In the dying seconds of the match, Liverpool win a corner in front of the Kop and load the box with their heavy hitters. One quality delivery at this stage could change the course of the title race entirely. The responsibility falls upon the Spaniard’s shoulders.

Aspas steps up and…well, he does this.

Comments on Twitter have been unsurprisingly less than kind about the Spaniard’s set-piece, with some even going so far as to label it the worst corner kick ever. Aspas has incredibly mustered just a single shot on target in the Premier League this season and only completed 63% of his passes in his latest cameo appearance.

Whilst Aspas’ future at Anfield looks uncertain, one thing should be clear. The Spaniard is unlikely to retain his prestigious role as the club’s corner-kick taker after this dismal effort.
