Liverpool could miss out on defender Ben Davies after Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly had a £10million bid accepted.

The Mirror are reporting that Swansea have accepted the offer from the London club,  just days after the Reds had an £8million bid turned down.

Rodgers is looking to strengthen his defence this summer, but has struggled in his pursuit of Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno. Liverpool are refusing to meet the La Liga club’s £20million asking price, and look set to turn their attention to Davies.

The Welsh youngster is reportedly interested in hearing what Brendan Rodgers, and possibly Mauricio Pochettino, have to say. Rodgers is hoping that his links with his former club could help him, although he must first meet the Swans’ valuation for the 21-year-old.

Liverpool spent the majority of last season with out Jose Enrique, who was out injured, and turned to Jon Flanagan at left-back. But their Northern Irish manager wants to add to his defensive options ahead of the Champions League campaign. The Reds haven’t been reluctant to spend money this summer, signing Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Emre Can and Lazor Markovic for a combined fee of just under £65million.

And reports suggest Rodgers will be given most, if not all, of the £75million received for the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona.
