Liverpool have lodged a formal £17.5m bid to sign AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli, according to reports emerging from Italy.
The former Manchester City striker has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, although a move to north London has never materialised beyond speculation.
But Sport MediaSet are claiming that Liverpool have submit a an official bid for the striker following their failure to sign QPR’s Loic Remy after the Frenchman failed a medical.
Balotelli is expected to leave the San Siro this summer after the Italian giants failed to make Champions League football this season.
And the 24-year-old is thought to be eager to sign for a club competing in Europe’s top competition, as well as being keen on returning to the Premier League.
However, it is believed AC Milan aren’t willing to listen to offers below £20million.
