Liverpool hero Robbie Fowler has urged his former club not to miss out on the chance to sign Barcelona playmaker Cesc Fabregas.
The Spanish international looks set for a shock move away from the Nou Camp in the coming months, with the Catalans rumoured to be considering a major first-team shake-up.
Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea have all been linked with moves to lure him back to the Premier League, as have Liverpool.
Brendan Rodgers side are able to compete with some of Europe’s big boys in the transfer market for top players after securing Champions League qualification, and the Northern Irishman has already spoken out about his desire to sign major players.
Fowler sees Fabregas as too good of an opportunity to pass on, and feels that his old team must make a serious move for him:
“Fabregas is a player I’ve always liked. When those kind of players become available you always want to sign them.” He told talkSPORT.
“Fabregas is a world-recognised player and he would suit the Liverpool system.”
Liverpool are understood to be unwilling to offer £30m for main target Adam Lallana, yet they may push the boat out for Fabregas, who has won the World Cup, European Championship on two occasions and two La Liga titles.
