The Spanish left-back was unable to feature in the Reds’ season-opening home win against Southampton, but he’s now available a little over a week on and has been training with his new club in the meantime.
Highly-rated in Spain, Moreno switched to Liverpool recently from Sevilla in a £12m deal after the club had pursued him for much of the summer.
Glen Johnson started the game against the Saints last weekend on the left side of the backline, but the experienced England international is expected to be moved into his favoured role on the opposite flank, opening up the position.
Although new to the Premier League ahead of the clash with the champions, Moreno is desperate to make his debut and take on former team-mate Jesus Navas – who may start for the Sky Blues:
“I’m fit and ready and I’d love to play,” he is quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
“I’ve been aching to have a chance to play against Jesus Navas. That would be great. I haven’t spoken to him since I signed but hopefully I will see him.
”I know him very well because when I first broke into the first team squad he was the one that I’d always be up against because he was on the right wing and I’d be on the left.
”He’s like lightning and he’s also very unpredictable which makes him very difficult to stop.”
Brendan Rodgers is understood to have been impressed with the 22-year-old’s showings in training.
