AC Milan chief Adriano Galliani has rubbished rumours that Liverpool have launched a £17.5m move for Mario Balotelli.
Reports surfaced earlier today stating that the Reds had lodged an opening bid for the controversial Italian, with a potential loan with a view to a full deal next summer on the cards.
But while Brendan Rodgers is desperate to land a new striker to replace Luis Suarez – who was sold to Barcelona for £75m a few months ago – Milan administrator Galliani says that no offer from the Merseysiders has been received at the San Siro:
“At this time we have not received any offer from Liverpool for Balotelli,” he is quoted by The Express.
“Hence, there is no negotiation.
“We will see as the transfer market ends on September 1.”
Liverpool have been linked with ‘Mad Mario’ for much of the summer, but Rodgers himself cooled speculation of a swoop during pre-season.
A new forward is, however, top of the Northern Irishman’s agenda for the coming two weeks, with Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani rumoured to be on their hit-list.
While the former is wanted by Juventus, the Reds are rumoured to be talking to PSG about the Uruguayan, who partners Suarez up front at international level.
