The 32-year-old is set to bring the curtain down on a 12-year-career at the Nou Camp when his contract expires at the end of the season, and is reportedly keen to try his luck in England.
Valdes has amassed 11 honours during his career with the Catalan giants, including six La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues.
And now reports in Spain have claimed that Liverpool have submitted an offer to Valdes, although it is unclear what the nature of the terms are.
It is also claimed Rodgers tried to sign Valdes last summer, only for the Spaniard to turn down the offer in favour of seeing out the remainder of his contract at the Nou Camp.
French giants Monaco and Paris St Germain are also believed to be interested, although Liverpool fancy themselves as favourites for his signature.
Brendan Rodgers only completed the £11m signing of goalkeeper Simon Mignolet last summer, but the Belgian has conceded 35 goals in the Premier League this season – more than any other club in the top half apart from Newcastle.
Rodgers has concerns over his defence, and believes a more experienced goalkeeper may go some way to rectifying the situation.
