Liverpool are planning an end of season move for West Ham centre-back Winston Reid, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The New Zealand international is rumoured to have grown discontented at Upton Park following Sam Allardyce’s decision not to usher him back into his starting XI after his injury woes.

Reid missed a great deal of time over the winter, and after being a key player for the Hammers for some time was expected to walk back into ‘Big Sam’s’ side.

Yet he has been unable to do so, which has opened the door for a summer move.

Arsenal have been linked with the powerful enforcer, but it is now understood that Liverpool are ready to table an official offer during the off-season.

Brendan Rodgers is known to be in the market for defensive additions, with his side’s rearguard having been breached on 38 occasions this term – more than any other top four side.

Reid could be used as a replacement for vice-captain Daniel Agger, with the Dane rumoured to be on the verge of linking up with former manager Rafael Benitez at Napoli.
