Liverpool are ready to push forward with a move for £17m rated Udinese forward Luis Muriel, according to the Metro.

The Colombian forward is reportedly keen on a switch to the Premier League, and Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring in more top class talent at the end of the season.

While the Reds’ forward line has been the best in the division this season with 76 Premier League goals so far, Rodgers is keen to bring in another versatile frontman to compliment Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez.

Reports in Italy suggest the 22-year-old has told his club he fancies a move to the Premier League in the summer, and Liverpool are now thought to be weighing up a bid.

Rodgers has sent scouts to watch the forward in action this season, and has received glowing feedback on his progress.

Muriel is capable of playing on either wing, as a main striker or in the number 10 role behind a lone striker.

The Reds remain confident of completing a deal in the summer, but may face competition for his signature from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Barcelona, who have also been linked.
